Somebody Call Jeff Foxworthy

by

There’s a whole new stand-up routine waiting for him.  If you’ve got your own one hour special on ESPN just to announce what team you’re going to sign with . . . you might be the King.

Does this seem as ridiculous to everyone else as it does to me?  I mean LeBron’s actual statement won’t be longer than five minutes.  They’ll do a good 10 minutes of  voice-overs while showing LeBron’s cronies shuffling on the stage and messing with the mic.  16 minutes of commercials.  It’s a half hour at most.  That leaves a full half hour of analysts yammering back and forth, making sure to make the argument for and against each team, leaving themselves scorn proof.  Sigh.  At the very least Avery Johnson has a job now that precludes him unleashing his enthusiasm and teeth directly into my face zone.

They’ve been planning this all along, I’m sure. ESPN has dragged us along waiting for news. “He’s planning to let us know by July 5th. Wade’s going to make a decision by the end of the weekend. They are all in Miami right now. Except the ones in Chicago and LeBron who hasn’t left Ohio.” Now it comes out after we’ve watched every episode of Sportcenter and visited Truehoop 175 times a day for the last week that we could have just waited until Thursday. Well done, Bristol. Well done.

Also am I the only one who isn’t too impressed with the idea of James and Bosh in Cleveland if it costs them Varejao, West, and Hickson? Seems like you hamstring the defense to bump up the offense. Wasn’t that why they brought in Jamison?
