The POWER of the Dark Side

by

Our good friends at the Entertainment SPorts Network report that LeBron James would do things differently knowing what he knows now, when it came to announcing his free-agency plans.

“If I had to go back on it, I probably would do it a little bit different,” James said. “But I’m happy with the decision I made. There’s always going to be a misunderstanding. I don’t know what I would [have done], but I definitely would have changed it.”

I, on the other hand, disagree.  “The Decision” was exactly what LeBron needed.  LeBron’s humbling this summer was definitely a good thing.  For one thing, now that he is hated, instead of loved, he does feel like he has something to prove.  All the stupid, thoughtless criticism of his game and abilities that came after “The Decision” have fueled him in a Jordanesque manner.  It’s good to play with an edge.

You don't know the POWER of SOUTH BEATH.

For example take this into account: after their season opening loss to the Boston Celtics defense, the HEAT been pounding on lesser opponents.  But even in as balanced game as possible, LeBron was the clear standout.  “The Decision” made that possible.  You just don’t tell the best basketball player in the world that he sucks for three solid months without consequences.

Some folks think James went over to the Dark Side when he announced his decision.  But in fact, it was all the hating on him that pushed him there.  If only they knew beforehand the power of Dark Side.
