David Stern’s Strange Priorities

A few days ago, the NBA front office fined Kobe Bryant $100,000 for (getting caught) shouting a homosexual slur during a game.  Yesterday, the very same front office levied a total of $150,000 in fines.  Half of that is charged to Phil Jackson, the other half to the Lakers organization.  What awful thing was uttered to warrant 50% more money?

“It was really about the fact that there’s going to be a lockout,” Jackson told the small gathering of traveling beat reporters April 7 at a Portland hotel. “It’s the perfect time to help the organization cover a gap if there’s a lockout. My staff, all those guys who work with me. All those things played into it. I felt like an obligation.”

You tell me which is worse . . .
