Miami Gets Another Dose of Game 2 Ref-Love!

by

James and Wade both played great. The Heat did enough to win.

But just like last series against Boston when Wade clearly slapped Rondo in the face in a crucial moment in overtime and didn’t get called for the foul, LeBron should have been called for a hold and a hack on Durant’s last shot late in the fourth quarter when Miami’s lead had been cut to two points. I’m not saying that would have changed the outcome necessarily, but the benefit of the doubt no calls that the Heat have received in these playoffs on what seem like glaringly obvious fouls have certainly helped.

That’s all I got on this game, extra sour grapes from the Celtics series that we should have won in 5 games. The real story is that James, Wade, Durant, and Westbrook are all incredibly terrific, and that this is probably the most athletic collection of stars in an NBA finals since 1992. We already knew that.

Meh. LeBron and Wade get fouled pretty much every time they go to the rack. It balances out mostly.

Good thing they get to the line a combined 24 times per game and LeBron’s defender is in perpetual foul trouble then. Can we get a foul called on one of them when they commit it in a crucial moment now? Actually I haven’t even looked at the foul breakdown or any of that. OKC might have got a total homejob other than that one play.

OKC took one more FT. And KD got away with a charge that should’ve fouled him out with like 3 or 4 minutes left to go.

But did he look good doing it?

        Good? He looked the BEST!

That was clearly not a charge. I’m surprised you’re complaining about lebron/wade not getting calls. They get more calls or non-calls(like jp often reminds me of wade jumping on people’s backs and rarely getting a foul called on him) than any other player in the league.

Bottom line: if the thunder want to win this series, they better get off to a better start. But, the heat need to do a better job of holding leads and executing in the 4th. Good thing for the heat that westbrook was missing lots of bunnies in the 1st half. Wade wasn’t playing bad defense on westbrook, but he has little or no chance against westbrook. Westbrook still had mostly good looks and good shots, and missed several layups he usually makes.

I have yet to hear much about durant needing more help, much like after game 1 we were hearing about lebron needing more help. Battier is averaging 17ppg.

The officiating needs to improve, though. Sefolosha missed another dunk, but he was clearly fouled on the attempt. I’m sure there’s missed calls both ways. But, don’t let chalmers bump harden, then call an iffy charge on harden 3 seconds later. And when it’s in the final 10 seconds, and lebron clearly fouls durant, and you’re standing 3 ft. away, blow your stinking whistle, it’s not that hard to do.

LeBron cut the number of shots from outside the lane in half from game 1. That’s how I always want him to play. 1/4 or less of his shots should be jumpers.
